Plan For Filming

This text is written by Maria Pop but all members of the group came up with the plan, prompt and specific budget.

Sweet" is the second single off the record and we know why they picked it to introduce the compilation. It has a baseline that swells, a barbed synth, and another sound that reminds us of the wind instrument played to charm snakes. They bounce between singing and spitting with thought-provoking yet catchy lines like, "In a pack but I feel all alone / I'm scatterbrained, man / Better offer the clone.’’ It's relevant and powerful, but the song still manages to have its fun.’’

Narrative

The type of narrative that we intend to use in our music video is an Interpretive one and one based on Amplification. Meaning that our music video will encourage the audience to speculate as to the deeper meaning of the song, by using a narrative which is not lifted literally from the lyrics, and the bond between the two will not be immediately obvious. The different themes that will be used will be used in order to compliment the ‘feeling’ of the song.

Plot

The plot we have for the music video is loosely planned, however the major idea for the story is that we want to include the songs use of metaphors and irony about how licorice is ‘sweet’. In the song analysis we talked about how this idea of licorice being sweet can be used in our music video to show how people are different - they can even be like licorice - you either love them or hate them. We wanted to create a music video based around a group of friends, all different yet all extremely close because they understand how it is to be judged because of their differences. The storyline is about a group of friends wondering about a city, drinking, talking and just having a good time.

We also decided to include a divided screen - one showing a group of friends in Timisoara and another showing a group in Cluj, this idea works better as this way it isn’t strange to just see two different groups with no context. The divided screen is inspired by A$AP ROCKY’s Praise The Lord music video and so in a way can be considered an homage to that style.

IDEAS:

In the beginning - a clip without music showing the 2 groups talking and possibly trying licorice with one group enjoying it and the other disliking it.

In the end - one shot from Timisoara - someone throws the licorice pack behind them and it ends up/enters the Cluj shot and someone picks it up and eats some licorice (sits down and eats them).

Location (possible locations) - will definitely be in TIMISOARA & CLUJ NAPOCA,ROMANIA

- Gas station

- Roof top

- Timisoara (Grafiti, Club 30)

- Train tracks

- Vending Machine

- Statues/City Squares

- Abandoned buildings

- Grocery Store

- Piezisa (A street in Cluj filled with bars and clubs)

We chose Timisoara as another location because a member from our group lives there (Iasmina Caramidariu) and has friends who can play in the music video. Timisoara also has a lot of interesting locations such as a street/tunnel filled with graffiti.

We all live and study in Cluj Napoca and have friends here as well who fit the style that we are going for. Using both locations gave us the idea to do a divided screen music video, inspired by the Praise the Lord music video.

Characters (2 groups with 6 members each max) - we chose the characters because they know each other and will be able to look comfortable in the video and we also like their style as it matches our Hip-Hop/Rap genre.

Note: The characters will not necessarily have names as we do not see that as relevant for a music video, however there will be at least one character or two who have a more prevalent role in the video (as main rappers).

1 or 2 main rappers (male)

A mix of men and women
